Getting Published, Funded and Employed: A Workshop for Early Career Researchers
16 December 11
Wellcome Trust, London, Friday 16th December 2011
This free, one-day workshop, organized by Religion and Society, is designed to give practical, informed advice to those considering a career in the academic study of religion, from whatever disciplinary background. It focuses on the interlinked activities of getting published, funded and employed. These are part of a virtuous circle, leading to and feeding one another.
The workshop will involve input, discussion and participation, with sessions run by Programme Director Linda Woodhead, Abby Day (author of How to Get Research Published in Journals and Winning Research Funding) and the AHRC’s Communications Manager Jake Gilmore.
Priority will be given to members of the Programme but the event is open to postgraduate students and early career researchers working on religion. Non-Programme places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Registration is now closed.
A limited number of bursaries are available for people in the UK who need to travel some distance to London. Please send an email with your registration form to Peta Ainsworth (p.ainsworth@lancaster.ac.uk) stating in one paragraph why you require assistance and how much your travel costs will be.
The BSA Sociology of Religion Study Group is running a day on ‘Teaching and Studying Religion: choices and challenges’ in London the day before (Thursday 15th December) which delegates may also be interested in attending. Click here for details.
