Young Christians in Latin America

The researchers on Phase 2 Small Grant ‘Youth transitions, international volunteering and religious transformations:the experiences of young evangelical Christians in Latin America.’ have just published the project’s final report. They find, amongst many other things, that the majority of young Christians volunteering in Latin America interviewed ‘experienced spiritual growth and renewed spiritual meaning through their volunteering experiences in Latin America although this was often subtle in nature.’ Access the report in English and Spanish here.

Religious Norms in the Public Sphere

Award holder Kim Knott (Phase 1 Large Grant and Phase 2 Collaborative Studentship) and her doctoral student at Leeds University Mat Francis, who is also conducting some research for the Programme, have had their paper selected for the Religious Norms in the Public Sphere project taking place in Berkeley in May 2011.

Phase 2 Network Belief as cultural performance:Towards a new framework for studying the religious and secular life-worlds of young people organised an international workshop in Oxford in July 2010 on ‘Young people and the cultural performance of belief’. Performing Islam – a new journal

This exciting new journal has developed out of Kamal Salhi’s Phase 1 network Performance, Politics, Piety.
