From hijab to jilbab
21 April 10
Kaye Haw talks about her Phase 1 Small Grant studying one Muslim community in the Midlands, fifteen years on from an earlier study into schooling for Muslim girls. She returned to ask what had changed in how they feel about their identity as British and Muslim. Her study links that question with the adoption by some women of more noticeable forms of Islamic dress. Recorded in conversation with Norman Winter in April 2010. [17min55sec] A short version of this interview is available here.
